More than 70 countries took part in the 59th International Al-Quran Reading and Memorising Competition in Kuala Lumpur. National Qari, Awangku Muhamad Adibul Amin bin Pengiran Haji Marzuki obtained 89.58% marks to win the second place, while Dayang Hajah Siti Noor Dzuhairah binti Haji Awang Damit obtained 86.63%.
This year’s qari champion is Hamed Alizadeh Marghzari Gholamhassan from the Islamic Republic of Iran, with 89.96%. The Qari in the third place, Wan Fakhrulrazi Wan Mohamad from Malaysia, got 89.09% marks. In the qariah category, the champion title went to the participant from Malaysia, Normalina binti Alias with marks at 91.52 %. Meanwhile, A’tiiqah Suhaimi from Singapore came third with 86.01%. In the Hafiz Category, the champion was Diallo Mouhamed Al-Muoudjtaba from Senegal, with 94 % in marks.
Second place went to Muhammad Syazani Jemy from Malaysia, with 93.95 %, and in third place was Ammar Abdulla BA Sakini from Qatar with marks at 93.9-4 percent. The Hafizah champion was Asihatul Musa Gale from Nigeria obtaining marks of 92.76%, with Zainab M-S Hijawi from Palestine as the runner-up with 91.51%, and Ngom Ndeye Diarra from Senegal in third place with 89.41%.
His Majesty the Yang Di-Pertuan Agong of Malaysia, Sultan Muhammad the 5th, presented the prizes. The 59th International Quran Reading and Memorising Competition began last Monday and took place at the Dewan Merdeka, Putra World Trade Centre, Kuala Lumpur.
